Call for Participants: Translation Summer School

Translation Summer School

On behalf of the organisers, I would like to announce the 8th
International Translation Summer School “SummerTrans VIII”, to be held
at the University of Innsbruck (Austria) from 8 to 17 July 2019.

Addressing anyone with an interest in translation, particularly student
translators, professional translators and translation researchers and
translator trainers, SummerTrans VIII will feature, among other things,
four hands-on workshops on translation technology:

1) Machine Translation for Translators: Taking Advantage of the New
Technology (by Nora Aranberri)
2) Machine Translation: Curse or Blessing? (by Gyde Hansen)
3) Why You Need Corpora in Translation (Even When You Master Other CAT
Tools) (by Adriano Ferraresi)
4) Die Rolle von Translationskompetenz und Translationsqualität in der
Translationsdidaktik von heute und morgen: Zwischen Mensch, Markt und
Maschine (by Astrid Schmidhofer)

The remaining workshops focus on both practical and theoretical issues
in translation and interpreting. In addition, the daily social programme
will offer a series of cultural, scientific and leisure activities.
